ABOUT
JABJ
The Jacksonville Association of Black
Journalists (JABJ) is an organization for journalists, journalism
students and professionals in media-related fields. JABJ's
membership represents a variety of media
outlets in Jacksonville and the Northeast Florida
region known as the First Coast.
Our members excel in every facet of print and
broadcast journalism as writers, reporters, editors,
news anchors and photojournalists in organizations
such as newspapers, radio and television stations,
internet, and advertising and public relations firms.
JABJ's objectives are:
- To strengthen ties among African-American
journalists.
- To promote diversity in newsrooms.
- To honor excellence and outstanding
achievement in the media industry.
- To expand job opportunities and recruiting
activities for established Black journalists and students
interested in the journalism field.

To expand and balance the media's coverage
of the African-American community and experience.
JABJ is a professional chapter of the
National Association of Black Journalists
, the largest media organization for people of color in
the world.
Founded in 1975, NABJ has been a source of empowermente
and support to its members and chapters via an array of professional
services including a

leadership
training
and
national conferences .
